KARACHI: The Board of Directors of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) Monday appointed Khalid Elgibaly as Chief Executive (CE) and board member with effect from February 1, 2014, based in Karachi. Elgibaly joins SCB Pakistan Ltd from Standard Chartered UAE, where he was Regional Head of Consumer Banking for UAE and the Middle East. Khalid will replace Mohsin Ali Nathani, who will become the CEO for Standard Chartered in the UAE.
Nathani moves to the UAE after being the CEO of SCB Pakistan for three years. During his tenure, Nathani has led a number of initiatives for the bank and his new assignment reflects the success that he enjoyed in his leadership role in Pakistan.
Commenting on the appointment, Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Ltd Board of Directors Chairman Christos Papadopoulos said, “Pakistan is a very important market for Standard Chartered and we have a long history dating back to 1863 when we established our first branch in Karachi.
