IN a continuation of its trillion-rupee weekly liquidity injections, the central bank pumped in Rs1.336tr into the banking system on November 11 in an open market operation.

The injection was made in a seven-day contract at 6.05pc. The central bank had received bids worth Rs1.342tr.

According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ending October 30, deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks increased by 1.34pc to Rs9,114.441bn, over the preceding week’s figure of Rs8,993.732bn. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs8,160.094bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 11.7pc.

The open market operation was conducted in a seven-day contract at 6.05pc

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs9,076.127bn in the week, against the preceding week’s level of Rs8,955.3bn, depicting a rise of 1.35pc. Deposits and other accounts of all specialised banks stood at Rs38.314bn in the week, against the previous week’s figure of Rs38.433bn.

Gross advances of all scheduled banks stood at Rs4,644.854bn in the week under review, up 0.3pc over the preceding week’s figure of Rs4,631.52bn. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs4,317.135bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 7.6pc.

Advances by all commercial banks also increased by 0.3pc to Rs4,487.682bn in the week, against the previous week’s figure of Rs4,474.685bn. Advances by all specialised banks stood at Rs157.172bn in the week.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs6,509.464bn in the week ending October 30, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs6,525.227bn, depicting a fall of 0.24pc. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs4,492.817bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 44.9pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs6,480.835bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs6,495.224bn, down 0.22pc. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs4458.56bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 45.36pc. Investments by all specialised banks stood at Rs28.63bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs30bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased 9.03pc to Rs1,796.931bn in the week under review, over the previous week’s figure of Rs1,975.212bn. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs854.737bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 110.23pc.

Borrowings by all commercial banks declined 9pc to Rs1,772.03bn in the week, against the previous week’s figure of Rs1,947.049bn. Borrowings by all specialised banks stood at Rs24.9bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs28.163bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs12,894.343bn in the week ending October 30, lower by 0.45pc over the preceding week’s figure of Rs12,953.023bn.
