KARACHI: The State Bank uploaded incorrect figures of foreign direct investment (FDI) on its website on Tuesday (March 17), showing 11.3 per cent growth during the first eight months of the current fiscal year. In reality, the FDI fell by 3.8pc.
Dawn published a story based on data reported on the SBP website. When contacted, the SBP spokesman said the erroneous FDI data was later corrected and new figures were issued. “It never happened before. It is unfortunate that wrong figures were uploaded and were published,” he said.
FDI in July-Feb 2013-14 was at first reported at $553.2 million. After correction it was shown at $640.1m, which means FDI dropped by 3.8pc year-on-year instead of rising by 11.3pc. FDI in the eight months of this fiscal year was $615.5m.
