Multan—Bankers and agriculture researchers have joined hands to organize a Mela next month to showcase modern technology and financial solutions to make farmers’ access to technology easier for development of non-farm agriculture.
Multan Bankers Club, in collaboration with Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture (MNSUA) are organizing the event tentatively in the first week of October with focus on products and services available with financial institutions on development finance for mechanization and technological uplift of non-farm sector of agriculture including livestock, horticulture and fisheries.
The event would provide an opportunity to creating awareness among farmers on technological innovations, post harvest processes, alternate energy resources, economical and modern irrigation techniques, prevention against viral diseases besides availability of financial services for the sector. All commercial and agriculture lending banks besides Islamic banks would set up their stalls.
Moreover, stalls exhibiting solar, bio-gas and other renewable and economical sources of energy, farming machinery and engineering, drip and sprinkle irrigation systems, post harvest treatment of locally produced fruit, fruit processing and pulp making, hygienically packing of fruits as per international standards, honey bee keeping, poultry breeding (Broilers and Laying), prevention of Congo virus and protection of livestock from diseases, dairy, livestock and fisheries. Bankers, agriculture researchers and officials of different wings of agriculture department would deliver lectures for awareness among farmers.
