KEY financials of all scheduled banks for the year 2015 show that total assets have grown by Rs1.911tr from Rs11.462tr on January 2, 2015 to Rs13.373tr by Jan 1, 2016, deposits and other accounts by Rs1.244tr from Rs8.430tr to Rs9.675tr, investments by Rs1.581tr from Rs5.129tr to Rs6.710tr, advances by Rs387.933bn from Rs4.516tr to Rs4.904tr respectively.

Borrowings have steadily grown over the year from Rs1.185tr to Rs1.686tr in the corresponding period. On December 23, they were higher at Rs1.998tr.

According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended January 01, 2016, gross advances of all scheduled banks stood at Rs4904.522bn, an increase of 2.57pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs4781.676bn. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs4516.589bn, current week’s figure is higher by 8.60pc.

Advances by all commercial banks rose to Rs4745.080bn against previous week’s Rs4622.890bn or by 2.64pc.

Advances of specialised banks stood at 159.442bn against previous week’s Rs158.786bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased in the week under review. It fell to Rs1686. 939bn over previous week’s Rs1998.257bn or by 15.58pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs1185.063bn, current week’s figure is higher by 42.35pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks also declined in the week to Rs1654.252bn against previous week’s Rs1965.913bn, lower by 15.85pc.

Borrowings by Specialised banks stood at Rs32.687bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs32.345bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs6710.957bn, against preceding week’s figure of Rs6725.648bn, a fall of 0.22pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs5129.012bn, current week’s figure is higher by 30.84pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs6683.849bn, against preceding week’s figure of Rs6698.648bn, a decrease of 0.22pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs5094.279bn, current week’s figure is higher by 31.20pc.

Investment by all specialised banks stood at Rs27.109bn, against preceding week’s figure of Rs27.00bn.

Deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks increased and stood at Rs9675.588bn, over preceding week’s figure of Rs9305.012bn, a rise of 4.00pc. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs8430.773bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 14.76pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs9630.185bn against preceding week’s deposits of Rs9265.280bn, showing an increase of 3.94pc.

Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs45.403bn, against previous week’s figure of Rs39.732bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs13373.935bn, higher by 0.40pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs13319.918bn.

Current week’s figure was higher by 16.67pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs11462.948billion.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at 13152.954bn, higher by 0.33per cent over previous week’s figure of Rs13109.846bn.

Total assets of specialised banks stood at Rs220.980bn over previous week’s Rs210.072billion.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks declined over the week and stood at Rs745.114bn against previous week’s Rs844.455billion, showing a fall of 11.76 percent.

Current week’s figure was higher by 0.26percent compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs743.129bn.
