BORROWING by all scheduled banks rose to Rs756.362bn in the week ending September 26, according to central bank data released last week.

This stands against the prior week’s figure of Rs.754.54bn, depicting a rise of 0.24 per cent. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs525.987bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 43.45 per cent.

Borrowings by all commercial banks rose by 0.35 per cent to Rs678.309bn in the week, against the previous week’s figure of Rs675.959bn. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs78.053bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs78.581bn.

According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ending September 26, cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks decreased by 2.29 per cent to Rs676.003bn, against the earlier week’s Rs691.834bn. The current week’s figure is higher by 15.88 per cent when compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs583.354bn.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all commercial banks stood at Rs672.928bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs687.885bn, down 2.17 per cent. Cash and balances with treasury banks of all specialised banks stood at Rs3.075bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of 3.949bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs4,468.963bn in the week under review, against the previous week’s figure of Rs4,438.956bn, an increase of 0.67 per cent. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs3,873.366bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 15.37 per cent.

Investments of all commercial banks stood at Rs4,436.822bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs4,407.232bn, up 0.67 per cent. Investments of all specialised banks stood at Rs32.14bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs31.724bn.

Gross advances of all scheduled banks stood at Rs4,282.669bn in the week ending September 26, an increase of 0.21 per cent over the preceding week’s figure of Rs4,273.967bn. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs3,830.565bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 11.8 per cent.

Gross advances of commercial banks rose to Rs4,148.764bn in the week, against the earlier week’s figure of Rs4,139.456bn, or by 0.22 per cent. Advances of specialised banks stood at Rs133. 905bn in the week.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs10,380.78bn in the week under review, higher by 0.7 per cent over the earlier week’s figure of Rs10,308.428bn. The current week’s figure is higher by 14.28 per cent when compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs9,083.749bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs10,202.671bn in the week, up 0.68 per cent over the previous week’s figure of Rs10,133.049bn. Total assets of all specialised banks stood at Rs178.109bn in the week, against the previous week’s Rs175.38bn.

Deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks rose by 0.61 per cent to Rs8,036.547bn in the week ending September 26, over the preceding week’s figure of Rs7,987.817bn. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7,124.66bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 12.8 per cent.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks rose by 0.61 per cent to Rs8,016.503bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs7,967.517bn. Deposits and other accounts of all specialised banks stood at Rs20.044bn in the week, against the previous week’s figure of Rs20.3bn.

Other liabilities of all scheduled banks stood at Rs389.374bn in the week under review, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs374.426bn, showing an increase of four per cent. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs350.117bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 11.21 per cent.

Other liabilities of all commercial banks went up by 3.43 per cent to Rs332.438bn in the week, against the previous week’s Rs321.398bn. The current week’s figure is higher by 10.3 per cent when compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs301.398bn.

Net assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs1,010.234bn in the week ending September 26, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs1,008.755bn, up 0.15 per cent. The current week’s figure is higher by 11.81 per cent when compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs903.482bn.

Net assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs991.228bn in the week, up 0.2 per cent over the preceding week’s figure of Rs989.337bn. Net assets of all specialised banks stood at Rs19.006bn in the week, against the previous week’s figure of Rs19.419bn.
