INVESTMENTS of all scheduled banks stood at Rs5,305.353bn by the week ending January 23, against the prior week’s level of Rs5,219.2bn, according to latest central bank data.

That compares with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs4,079.011bn, showing an annual growth of 28.43pc.

Investments of all commercial banks stood at Rs5,270.868bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs5,184.628bn, showing an increase of 1.8pc. Investments of all specialised banks stood at Rs34.485bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs34.573bn.

The weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ending January 23 shows that cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks decreased 3pc to Rs625.997bn, against the earlier week’s figure of Rs693.185bn. The current week’s figure is lower by 14.6pc when compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs655.961bn.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all commercial banks stood at Rs621.948bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs689.189bn, down 3.23pc. Cash and balances with treasury banks of all specialised banks stood at Rs4.049bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs3.996bn.

Gross advances by scheduled banks stood at Rs4,439.678bn in the week under review, down 1.12pc over the preceding week’s figure of Rs4,460.985bn. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs4,081.346bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 9.98pc.

Advances by commercial banks fell by 1.16pc to Rs4,299.306bn in the week, against the earlier week’s figure of Rs4,321.053bn. Advances by specialised banks stood at Rs140.371bn in the week.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs11,341.446bn in the week ending January 23, lower by 1.36pc over the preceding week’s figure of Rs11,497.446bn. The current week’s figure is higher by 18.44pc when compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs9,575.737bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs11,151.75bn in the week, lower by 1.38pc over the previous week’s figure of Rs11,307.667bn. Total assets of all specialised banks stood at Rs190.233bn in the week, against the previous week’s figure of Rs189.779bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks declined 15.13pc to Rs1,132.915bn in the week under review, over the previous week’s 1,334.959bn. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs596.556bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 90pc.

Borrowings by all commercial banks decreased by16.06pc to Rs1,056.696bn in the week, against the previous week’s figure of Rs1,258.846bn. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs76.219bn in the week, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs76.113bn.

Deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks rose to Rs8,376.394bn in the week ending January 23, over the preceding week’s figure of Rs8,326.347bn. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7,508.252bn, the current week’s figure is higher by11.56pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks rose 0.6pc to Rs8,347.134bn in the week, against the preceding week’s level of Rs8,297.223bn. Deposits and other accounts of all specialised banks stood at Rs29.261bn in the week, against the previous week’s figure of Rs29.123bn.

Other liabilities of all scheduled banks stood at Rs415.316bn in the week under review, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs424.778bn, down 2.23pc. When compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs332.96bn, the current week’s figure is higher by 24.73pc.

Other liabilities of all commercial banks decreased to Rs362.143bn in the week, against the previous week’s figure of Rs371.704bn. The current week’s figure is higher by 28.32pc when compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs282.213bn.

Net assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs1,211.406bn in the week ending January 23, against the preceding week’s figure of Rs1,203.854bn. The current week’s figure is higher by 24.06pc when compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs976.439bn.

Net assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs1,183.921bn in the week, up 0.63pc over the preceding week’s figure of Rs1,176.497bn.

The weekly statement of affairs for the week ending January 23 shows that notes in circulation stood at Rs2,506.476bn, down 1pc over the preceding week’s figure of Rs2,531.88bn.
