According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended Oct 21, deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs10,301.370bn after a 0.005pc decrease over the preceding week’s figure of Rs10,301.889bn.

Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs8,993.732bn, the current week’s figure was higher by 14.54pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs10,242.499bn against preceding week’s deposits of Rs10,244.236bn, showing a decrease of 0.02pc. Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs58.871bn, higher by 2.11pc against previous week’s figure of Rs57.653bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs14,067.672bn, lower by 0.30pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs14,110.745bn. Current week’s figure is higher by8.60pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs12,953.023bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs13,838.633bn, lower by 0.30pc over previous week’s figure of Rs13,881.061bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs229.038bn, were smaller 0.28pc over the previous week’sRs229.684bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks rose against the preceding week’s figure. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure the current week’s figure is higher by 10.88pc

Gross advances of all scheduled banks stood at Rs5,140.605bn, higher by 0.53pc over the preceding week’s figure of 5,113.496bn. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs4,631.520bn, current week’s figure is higher by 11.00pc.

Advances by all commercial banks increased to Rs4,976.174bn from previous week’s Rs4,949.010bn indicating a rise of 0.55pc, whereas advances of specialised banks stood at Rs164.431bn against previous week’s 164.486bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks continued to decrease in the week under review. It fell by 3.24pc to Rs1,729.981bn against previous week’s Rs1,787.908bn. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs1,975.212bn, current week’s figure is lower by 12.41pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs1,651.832bn were lower by 3.35spc against previous week’s Rs1,709.084bn. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs78.149bn against the previous week’s Rs78.824bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs7,235.008bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs7,231.343bn, showing a rise of 0.05pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs6,525.227bn, current week’s figure is higher by 10.88pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs7,192.641bn, higher by 0.06pc against preceding week’s figure of Rs7,188.059bn, whereas investment by all specialised banks stood at Rs42.366ssbn against preceding week’s figure of Rs43.285bn.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks decreased over the week and stood at Rs.798.922bn against previous week’s Rs831.029bn, showing a decline of 3.86pc. Current week’s figure increased by 6.06pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs753.300bn.

Cash and balances of all commercial banks stood at Rs796.478bn, lower by 3.90pc over previous week’s Rs828.798bn. Cash and balances of all specialised banks were higher by 9.55pc at Rs2.444bn against the preceding week’s Rs2.231bn.
