ACCORDING to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended September 08, 2017 deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs11,593.328 billion after a 0.60 per cent decrease over the preceding week’s figure of Rs11,661.904bn.

Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs10,144.515bn, the current week’s figure was higher by 14.28pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs11,519.695bn against preceding week’s deposits of Rs11,588.601bn, showing a fall of 0.60pc.

Investments by all commercial banks was higher by 0.27pc against preceding week

Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs73.632bn, higher by 0.45pc against previous week’s figure of Rs73.304bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,491.542bn, lower by 1.13pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs16,680.446bn. Current week’s figure is higher by18.12pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs13,961.623bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,236.353bn, smaller by 1.16pc over previous week’s figure of Rs16,426.893bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs255.189bn, were lower 0.64pc over the previous week’s Rs253.553bn.

Gross advances of all scheduled banks stood at Rs6,029.679bn, lower by 0.52pc over the preceding week’s figure of 6,061.510bn. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs5,049.869bn, current week’s figure is higher by 19.40pc.

Advances by all commercial banks decreased to Rs5,858.073bn from previous week’s Rs5,889.726bn indicating a fall of 0.54pc, whereas advances of specialised banks stood at Rs171.606bn against previous week’s 171.784bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased in the week under review. It fell by 4.81pc to Rs2,763.656bn against previous week’s Rs2,903.436bn. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs1,804.179bn, current week’s figure is higher by 53.20pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,676.358bn were lower by five per cent against previous week’s Rs2,817.531bn. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs87.298bn against the previous week’s Rs85.906bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs8,373.901bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs8,351.419bn, showing a rise of 0.27pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7,133.408bn, current week’s figure is higher by 17.40pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs8,315.259bn, higher by 0.27pc against preceding week’s figure of Rs8,292.934bn, whereas investment by all specialised banks stood at Rs58.642bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs58.485bn.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks decreased over the week and stood at Rs941.276bn against previous week’s Rs964.296bn, showing a fall of 2.38pc. Current week’s figure increased by 8.50pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs867.550bn.

Cash and balances of all commercial banks stood at Rs937.193bn, smaller by 2.41pc over previous week’s Rs960.358bn.

Cash and balances of all specialised banks were higher by 3.68pc at Rs4.083bn against the preceding week’s Rs3.938bn.
